{"id":6517,"date":"2015-05-13T09:45:28","date_gmt":"2015-05-13T13:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/?p=6517"},"modified":"2016-01-26T13:34:46","modified_gmt":"2016-01-26T18:34:46","slug":"breast-cancer-care-expands-at-md-anderson-cancer-center-at-cooper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/2015\/05\/breast-cancer-care-expands-at-md-anderson-cancer-center-at-cooper\/","title":{"rendered":"Breast Cancer Care Expands at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center Opens<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>As of\u00a0May 12, 2015,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/conditions\/breast-cancer\"> breast cancer<\/a> patients in the region have a new resource for the treatment of breast cancer at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/departments-programs\/breast-cancer-center\">Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center<\/a>, the newest addition to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/departments-programs\/cancer-institute\">MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper<\/a> in Camden, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p>In just the first year since MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper opened, the cancer program has experienced more than 26 percent growth in new patients seeking specialized cancer services. This has led to the opportunity to expand existing shell space within the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and create the new breast cancer center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/?attachment_id=6524\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6524\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/files\/2015\/05\/Cooper_Knowles_Press_02550.jpg\" alt=\"Cooper_Knowles_Press_02550\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center features clinical exam rooms, two with ultrasound capabilities, and a beautifully appointed waiting area just for breast cancer patients and their families. Patients will have access to all their specialists in the same convenient location, creating a more seamless approach to multidisciplinary cancer care.<\/p>\n<p>The new space also includes the Boutique of Hope which is a small specialty shop that offers unique MD Anderson Cooper branded clothing, accessories, pampering soaps and lotions, gourmet teas, scented candles and other gift items.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion of breast cancer services is dedicated to Janet Knowles of Moorestown, New Jersey<strong>, <\/strong>a breast cancer survivor and philanthropist, who donated $5 million and personally committed to advance Cooper\u2019s breast cancer program seven years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center has a \u201chome\u201d on the second floor of the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in Camden, centralizing outpatient breast cancer services on the Camden campus in a beautiful physical space that is both calming and accommodating. The new Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center is a testament to Ms. Knowles\u2019 resolve that women have access to the best care medicine can offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely grateful to Janet and her support which helps us continue to meet the growing needs of breast cancer patients in our region,\u201d said Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer at Cooper University Health Care. \u201cShe has been a strong advocate, working with us to create programs that encompass the entire journey for a breast cancer patient, from diagnosis through survivorship. Her focus is always about presenting a healing environment for patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJanet\u2019s love of art is reflected in more than 20 stunning pieces that grace the walls of the Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center, all created by inspired women artists from New Jersey,\u201d said Susan Bass Levin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cooper Foundation. \u201cMany of the artists have a personal connection to cancer, and the sensitivity of their work clearly reflects this.
