Nancy J. Hammill, MS Ed, learning therapist, professional development and outreach coordinator at the Cooper Learning Center<\/a>, has been named the Sam Kirk Educator of the Year by the Learning Disabilities Association of America. The Sam Kirk Educator of the Year award is given annually to an educator who has made outstanding contributions to the education of people with learning disabilities.<\/p>\n

Hammill has 20 years of experience in the field of education helping students of all ages overcome learning challenges. Through the Cooper Learning Center, she works with public and private schools to improve the academic outcomes of students through teacher in-service training and mentoring. Hammill also coordinates the center\u2019s annual dyslexia conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The award is named in honor of the late Dr. Samuel A. Kirk, psychologist, educator, scholar, humanitarian, and pioneer in the field of learning disabilities. Hammill will formally be recognized by the Learning Disabilities Association of America during the organization’s national conference in Orlando, Florida, February 15-18, 2016.<\/p>\n
