Intensive care unit nurse Deborah Cannon, RN, of Beverly, NJ, with the DAISY Award<\/p><\/div>\n

Cooper University Health Care recognized intensive care unit nurse Deborah Cannon, RN, of Beverly, NJ, with The DAISY Award for providing exceptional care.<\/p>\n

Deborah was nominated by the daughter of a patient recovering from stomach cancer surgery who described her as very caring, empathetic, and supportive. \u201cMy father speaks very little English,\u201d the patient\u2019s daughter said. \u201cDeb was able to communicate with him, make him laugh, and relieve a lot of his anxiety.\u201d<\/p>\n

The DAISY Award, established by The DAISY Foundation, is an international program that celebrates the extraordinary care given by nurses every day. It is presented in collaboration with the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Each quarter, Cooper honors a nurse with The DAISY Award.<\/p>\n

Each winner receives a DAISY Award recipient pin, a Healer\u2019s Touch hand-carved statue, an award certificate, and a gift certificate to Cinnabon\u00ae. In addition, the selected nurse\u2019s unit receives a banner to post for the quarter.<\/p>\n

Anyone\u2014patients, families, and professional colleagues\u2014may nominate a Cooper nurse for The DAISY Award. The DAISY nomination materials are located on nursing units and other public locations throughout the main Cooper campus and outpatient offices, as well as online here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
