The award recognizes the hospital\u2019s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper University Hospital achieved an 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines-Stroke achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month periods and a 75 percent or higher compliance with five of eight Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality measures to receive the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooper is committed to improving stroke outcomes in our community,\u201d said Cooper <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/departments-programs\/stroke-program\" target=\"_blank\">Stroke Program<\/a> neurologist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/physicians\/thomas-r-mirsen-md\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas R. Mirsen<\/a>, MD. \u201cThis accreditation reinforces the efforts we\u2019ve made toward achieving that goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cooper University Hospital earned the Target: Stroke Honor Roll by meeting specific quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient\u2019s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA, the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/conditions\/stroke\" target=\"_blank\">ischemic stroke<\/a>.
