Adjusting to ongoing cancer\u00a0treatment may be overwhelming. But metastatic breast cancer is\u00a0not a hopeless disease. Many women continue to live long, productive\u00a0lives with breast cancer in this stage.<\/p>\n<p>There are two important things to remember about a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are not alone. More and more people are living life to the fullest while being treated for advanced stage cancer.<\/li>\n<li>Our team is here to help you. Not just your physicians and nurses \u2014 but our comprehensive team of nutritionists, behavioral health experts,\u00a0social workers, complementary medicine practitioners, and other cancer\u00a0experts are available to provide support, information, and practical tips.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/departments-programs\/cancer-institute\">MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper<\/a>, we recognize the physical,\u00a0emotional, and social impact that this illness can have on women and their\u00a0loved ones and have created the <a href=\"http:\/\/events.cooperhealth.org\/event\/complementary-medicine\/metastatic-breast-cancer-program\">Metastatic Breast Cancer Program<\/a> to help women with metastatic breast cancer adjust to their \u201cnew normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our program offers monthly support sessions that are combined with\u00a0classes and activities. At each meeting we also include time for women\u00a0to network and connect on a personal level.<\/p>\n<p>At each group session we educate and promote health and wellness\u00a0through the three pillars of integrative medicine \u2014 nutrition, physical\u00a0activity, and emotional health. Our programs cover diverse topics and are as enjoyable as they are informative. Activities include meditation and guided\u00a0imagery, nutrition classes, discussions about sleep issues and coping during\u00a0the holidays, creative art projects for personal expression, and many more.<\/p>\n<p>In June, our program will address a current hot topic, latest therapies\u00a0for fighting metastatic breast cancer (MBC), as well as making healthy fruit smoothies and time for guided imagery and meditation. This will be offered at our MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper location in Camden on Friday, June 23,\u00a02017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and in Voorhees on Tuesday, June 27, 2017,\u00a05:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Our full schedule of upcoming sessions in both our Camden and Voorhees locations is listed below. The program is open to women throughout the tri-state area, no matter where they receive\u00a0their treatment.
