Veterans Day was celebrated a few days early as Cooper University Health Care recognized employees and physicians for their military service at a special event in their honor on November 8, 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe value you and are fortunate to have you as members of the Cooper team,\u201d Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, president and chief executive officer at Cooper, said to the veterans and current military members in attendance. \u00a0\u201cYour military service to our country is reflected in the skills and experience you bring to Cooper each day as you selflessly serve Cooper\u2019s patients and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n

Approximately 50 Cooper employees, representing every branch of the armed services, attended the event and received a specially designed hat and ID badge holder as a token of appreciation.<\/p>\n

Aligned with its mission \u201cto serve, to heal, to educate,\u201d Cooper has developed a number of innovative initiatives for veterans and active military. To improve access to care, Cooper has established the Veterans VIP program and HeroCare Connect. These programs provide expedited, concierge services to military veterans, active service members, and their family members.<\/p>\n

Cooper is one of only four hospitals in the nation to provide clinical training to the elite Special Operations Combat Medics (SOCM) from the U.S. Military\u2019s Special Operations Command, including the U.S. Army Special Forces and Rangers, Navy SEALS, and Marine Recon, among others. Cooper is also proud to serve as only one of three hospitals nationwide, and the primary location, for an eight-week clinical and field internship for U.S. Air Force Pararescue special operations providers.<\/p>\n

Cooper also provides training to primary care physicians of the 87th<\/sup> Medical Group \u2013 an Air Force outpatient medical treatment facility operating on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB-MDL) \u2013 with trauma and emergency skill development and sustainment onsite at Cooper.<\/p>\n
