MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper<\/a> marked its five-year anniversary of serving the region at a celebration attended by elected officials, hospital leadership, and cancer survivors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is another exciting day as MD Anderson at Cooper continues to transform cancer care for the people of South Jersey and the region,\u201d said George E. Norcross III, Chairman of the Board of Trustees<\/a> at Cooper University Health Care. \u201cIn just five short years, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has become a leading cancer center in South Jersey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis five-year milestone is an opportunity to reflect on MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper\u2019s tremendous impact on the communities it serves,\u201d said Peter WT Pisters, MD, president of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center<\/a>. \u201cTogether, we have brought a new dimension of\u00a0high-quality cancer care, research and innovation, allowing more patients and families to stay close to home and near their support circles.\u00a0 We look forward to many more years of collaboration with Cooper as we advance our shared goal of ending cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was in October 2013 that Cooper partnered with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the nation\u2019s leading cancer hospitals, and opened the a new, state-of-the-art cancer center on the Cooper Health Sciences Campus in Camden. \u00a0The partnership is a full clinical integration between the two programs. MD Anderson at Cooper physicians adhere to the same philosophy, processes, and guidelines, and patients receive the same proven practice standards and treatment plans provided by MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Patients at MD Anderson at Cooper have access to more clinical trials, as well as a full range of preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and supportive care services.<\/p>\n

MD Anderson at Cooper has experienced significant growth in the past five years with more than 110,000 treatment encounters and 70,000 physician practice visits in 2017 alone.<\/p>\n

Since opening, MD Anderson at Cooper has undergone several expansion projects to provide more comprehensive cancer care services for patients. This includes The Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center<\/a> in July 2015; a new 30-bed inpatient oncology unit<\/a> \u2013 the only one in South Jersey \u2013 on the 5th floor of the Roberts Pavilion at Cooper University Hospital in July 2016; an expanded outpatient infusion center<\/a> in November 2016; and a new outpatient diagnostic mammography center<\/a> in May of this year.<\/p>\n

About MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cooper University Health Care and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center \u2013 a world-renowned cancer center \u2013 have partnered to create MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The physicians at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper adhere to the practice standards, treatment protocols, and guidelines set by MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. Disease-site specific multidisciplinary teams consisting of physicians, nurses, and other clinical specialists work together to provide cancer patients with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, access to a wide range of groundbreaking clinical trials, and dynamic patient-physician relationships. A full complement of support services provides complete, compassionate care for our patients.<\/p>\n
