Vivian Jolley Bea, MD, MBS, Breast Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper<\/p><\/div>\n

As a highly skilled breast cancer surgeon, public speaker, educator, community leader, and mother of two boys, Dr. Vivian Jolley Bea<\/a> is a tireless advocate for under-served populations, determined to work toward the elimination of racial disparities in health care.<\/p>\n

Following a highly competitive breast surgical oncology fellowship program at the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Dr. Bea joined the breast surgical oncology team at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper<\/a> in 2017 where she can be found working with patients through our women’s cancer, breast cancer, dense breast, and rare cancer programs, among others.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bea was awarded the National Minority Quality Forums Top 40 under 40 in Minority Health<\/a> for her dedication to the community outreach, research, and commitment to eliminating breast cancer disparities. In September 2018, Dr. Bea was among a panel of cancer survivors, family caregivers, doctors, and nurses at the Biden Cancer Community Summit<\/a> co-sponsored by MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and Congressman Donald Norcross.<\/p>\n

Through research, health initiatives, and speaking engagements across the world, she continues to advocate for access to care. Dedicated to community outreach, she is the co-founder of G.L.O.S.S. (Girls Loving Ourselves Successfully)<\/a> and B.O.S.S, programs focused on mentoring middle and high school girls and boys. And, along with her son Charles Bea Jr., she is the author of a children\u2019s book published in 2018 \u2013 \u201cPlease Don’t Touch My Magical Hair\u201d \u2013 part of a new series aimed at building self-esteem for children of color.<\/p>\n
