On Thursday, April 25, 2019, about 60 students in the 5th through 12th grades came to Cooper University Health Care for Cooper Career Day, part of National\u00a0Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Throughout the day, students learned about the different roles our Cooper team members play in the hospital to ensure that we\u2019re able to carry out our mission: To serve. To heal. To educate.<\/em><\/p>\n

This year, students were treated to rotating opportunities for exploring careers and learning more about the role of health care. They learned about trauma prevention, staying safe on social media, health informatics technology, hand hygiene, laboratory and pathology services, hospital security, and more.\u00a0The Nursing Education department taught the children how to save a life by tying a tourniquet to stop bleeding. Each child had an opportunity to tie a tourniquet on a mannequin.\u00a0They also had the opportunity to explore Cooper ambulances with our EMS team and visit the simulation lab at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.<\/p>\n
