Patel, MD, FACS<\/a>, director of Cooper\u2019s program. \u201cWe are excited to have him join our team as we provide the highest level of care to our patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Kamataka, India and University of Bombay, Bombay, India, Dr. Kakkilaya residencies in surgery at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, New York, NY, and Mercy Catholic Medial Center- Fitzgerald Division, Darby, Pa. He completed a Fellowship in minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Kakkilaya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/services\/bariatric-and-metabolic-surgery-center\/why-choose-surgery\/types-weight-loss-surgeries\">specializes in minimally invasive weight loss surgery, roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), and vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) procedures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to weight loss, bariatric surgery can also help treat obesity-related health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. In addition to surgery, Cooper\u2019s program offers nutritional counseling, exercise counseling, and group and individual support session following surgery.
