Following the customary body cavity search, we proceeded to the children\u2019s hospital \u201cF. Velez Paiz,\u201d where 25 families had been waiting days for a possible life-changing surgery.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_295\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/ortho\/files\/2014\/03\/Nicaragua_1.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[292]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-295\" class=\"size-full wp-image-295\" title=\"SONY DSC\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/ortho\/files\/2014\/03\/Nicaragua_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-295\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We were met by 25 families who had been waiting for days.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After six hours of triage, seven children with the most severe lower extremity deformities were selected for reconstructive surgery over the next two days.
