This marinara sauce is quick and easy to make, and can be used as an appetizer dip as well as to top pasta.
Ingredients
1 can crushed tomatoes (28 oz.)
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ cup water
Directions
- Place a small pot over medium heat and add oil. Add all spices and herbs and mix for about two minutes.
- Add water and tomatoes and let simmer for about 30-40 minutes. The longer the better.
Makes about 3 cups.
Each 1-ounce serving is approximately 18 calories, 0.5 g protein, 0.6 g fat and 3 g carbohydrates.
