Sharon L. Kolasinski, MD, Named Head of Division
Nearly 50 million adults in the United States now suffer from a rheumatologic disorder. To meet the growing demands of this diverse patient population that ranges from management of rheumatoid arthritis to lupus, fibromyalgia and scleroderma, Cooper has recruited a leader in the field to direct the Division, Sharon L. Kolasinski, MD
Dr. Kolasinski joins Cooper from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she was Interim Director of the Division of Rheumatology, Program Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship Program, and Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She has a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, and the use of complementary medicine in disease management. A nationally recognized clinician, educator, and author, Dr. Kolasinski is a fellow in the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. She received the prestigious Clinician Scholar Educator Award in 2007 and the Rheumatology Fellowship Award from the American College of Rheumatology in 2009, 2010, and 2011 for her exceptional contributions to education in the field.
Dr. Kolasinski will provide leadership to the growing Division, promoting the exceptional diagnostic expertise of the faculty, access to state-of-the-art medical therapies, and a comprehensive patient-centered approach to disease management. Musculoskeletal ultrasound will continue to be an integral part of the Division’s diagnostic arsenal. Cooper has achieved a national reputation as an educational center for thisimportant modality.
Outpatient rheumatology consultation services have also expanded to include locations throughout South Jersey, including: Voorhees, Willingboro, Cherry Hill, Camden and Thorofare.
