Our team is\u00a0working toward the shared goal of\u00a0having 80% of adults aged 50 and older\u00a0being regularly screened for colorectal\u00a0cancer by 2018.<\/p>\n<p>While colorectal cancer incidence\u00a0rates have dropped in the U.S. among\u00a0adults aged 50 and older, it is still the\u00a0second leading cause of cancer death in\u00a0the United States, despite being highly\u00a0preventable, detectable, and treatable.\u00a0In fact, it is estimated that in 2016,\u00a0134,490 cases of colorectal cancer will\u00a0be diagnosed. If we can achieve 80% by\u00a02018, 203,000 colorectal cancer deaths\u00a0would be prevented across the U.S., \u2013\u00a06,000 in New Jersey alone \u2013 by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the 80% by 2018 goal\u00a0is to leverage the energy of multiple\u00a0and diverse partners to empower\u00a0communities, patients, and providers to\u00a0increase screening rates.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage all healthcare\u00a0providers in New Jersey to join us in\u00a0this effort.
