What made you decide to go to medical school?
I always had a genuine interest in science and biology. My parents are physicians, and from a young age I found myself asking questions about health and chronic disease. As a 12-year-old I used to read the Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I chose internal medicine because I like the comprehensive approach to primary care. I like to assess patients from a holistic viewpoint to better understand how all components of their health are interconnected and put an effective plan of care in place.
What do you enjoy most about primary care?
I like that I am able to care for patients through all stages of life and provide education and support along the way so patients can be empowered in their health care decision making.
What is your philosophy of care?
I think it is important to develop a trusting partnership with my patients. I value effective communication and promoting a comfortable environment where patients can have an open discussion and ask questions. Providing patients with the tools to achieve their health goals and take charge is a rewarding experience.
How do you spend your time when you’re not seeing patients?
In my free time I like to exercise and spend time with my family.
