HRO: Mandatory Training Schedule

All sessions cancelled until further notice.

Providing the best care to our patients in the safest environment is our top priority at Cooper University Health Care.

To further improve patient safety and satisfaction, Cooper has joined the New Jersey High Reliability Organization (HRO) Collaborative, also known as New Jersey STRONG. High Reliability Organizations are designed to form a teamwork-based safety culture that ensures inevitable human mistakes do not lead to patient or employee harm.

To become an HRO, all Cooper employees and providers must complete an in-person, organization-wide training by the end of 2020. The New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) has developed a standardized, statewide, three-hour course to provide a foundation of basic patient safety principles and educate staff on best practices.

Training Schedule: TBD

To schedule a training session, visit the Cooper Learning Network and search for “High Reliability Organization (HRO) Staff and Physician Training.”

Cooper has already begun to implement a number of patient safety best practices endorsed by the NJHA, including:

  • Daily safety huddles led by senior leadership to discuss safety and patient care needs and address operational issues.
  • Standardized review, tracking, and reporting of organizational safety events.

To increase awareness and prevent future patient harm, all patient safety incidents should be entered into EARS, Cooper’s event reporting system. If you have questions or concerns about a particular issue, please use the Patient Safety email address, or reach out directly to a member of the team:
