Senior leaders and staff of Cooper University Health Care gathered to celebrate Cooper employee John Bishop, who heroically saved a woman who was being brutally attacked alongside a busy South Jersey highway on June 6, 2019.<\/p>\n

Putting his own safety aside and thanks to his quick actions, he was able to rescue the victim and subdue the perpetrator until police could arrive. Police credit him with saving the woman\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day Cooper employees save the lives of others. But what John did was over and above the call of duty. The entire senior leadership team commends John for his courageous actions,\u201d said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, Cooper\u2019s Co-President and CEO, at the celebration.<\/p>\n

\u201cJohn is a true hero. When he witnessed a person in need, he did not hesitate to act. We are proud to call him a member of the Cooper family,\u201d added Kevin O\u2019Dowd, JD, Co-President and CEO of Cooper.<\/p>\n

Bishop, a resident of Burlington Township, NJ, is a member of the Facilities Management Department at Cooper\u2019s ambulatory facility in Voorhees, NJ. He has been an employee at Cooper for 11 years.<\/p>\n

\"\" On Friday, June 14, 2019, staff from across the health system gathered to celebrate John Bishop as he was presented with an award and gift certificate. There was also a cake and refreshments to celebrate his heroism.<\/p>\n
