Cooper Critical Care is the premier\u00a0center in the region to care for patients with respiratory failure and is now the only hospital in South Jersey to offer respiratory\u00a0ECMO rescue therapy. Veno-venous extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) is a form of pulmonary life-support that circulates blood outside the body using a mechanical pump. With this therapy, compromised organs can rest and heal. VV-ECMO is specific to patients with damaged and\/or injured lungs. VV-ECMO requires a multidisciplinary team approach to care that includes, but is not limited to, critical care, pulmonary medicine, anesthesiology, and perfusion.<\/p>\n
