Join Cooper\u2019s Dr. Elizabeth Cerceo, Cooper Hospitalist, Associate Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, and a teaching fellow of CMSRU\u2019s Academy of Master Educators, along with Rowan University\u2019s Dr. Jeanna Mastrocinque, Assistant Professor, Department of Law and Justice Studies, for a free webinar that all providers should make plans to attend.<\/p>\n

The presenters will discuss findings from their research with families and friends of homicide victims (FFHV), which focus on interactions with the health care system and health care providers in the aftermath of a loved one’s homicide.<\/p>\n

This research was funded by a Researcher-Practitioner Fellowship from the Center for Victim Research under grant number 2016-XV-GX-K006, awarded by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, and U.S. Department of Justice.<\/p>\n

The research team held focus groups with FFHV and coded the qualitative data using the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s “Guiding Principles of Trauma-Informed Care” framework (2014). In addition to the framework, several other themes emerged from the analysis. This partnership was one of CVR’s 2018 Research-to-Practice Fellowship projects.<\/p>\n

During the webinar, the presenters will discuss the findings, suggestions for health care providers’ interactions with patients who are FFHV, and the next steps for this project. The presentation will conclude with a discussion about the benefits of working with an interdisciplinary research team of practitioners and researchers.<\/p>\n
