Cooper University Health Care has begun installing new technology (SwipeSense) to help protect our patients from potentially deadly infections. The technology will help us identify and remove barriers to good hand hygiene.<\/p>\n

The technology will also allow Cooper\u2019s Infection Prevention team to examine unit and job code level data to determine where we have the best opportunities for increasing hand hygiene.<\/p>\n

During the next few weeks, new drip trays with sensors will be installed under all hand sanitizer and soap dispensers throughout the hospital. The sensors on the trays interact with sensors that will be added to employee badges to record when hand hygiene is taking place. Sensors will also be added to some power outlets within patient rooms and in some common areas in order to record location data.<\/p>\n
