Programs that achieve recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health care professionals who can provide state-of-the-art information about diabetes management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Assuring high-quality education for participants\u2019 self-care is one of the primary goals of the ADA Education Recognition Program. Through the support of the health care team and increased knowledge and awareness of diabetes, the person with diabetes can assume a major part of the responsibility for his\/her diabetes management. Unnecessary hospital admissions and some of the acute and chronic complications of diabetes may be prevented through self-management education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">This Cooper educational team <\/span>helps patients gain the tools and knowledge for taking medications, making healthy food choices, and problem solving. In addition, they help patients recognize their own blood glucose patterns, leading to an understanding of how food, medications, activity, and stress can affect one\u2019s blood glucose.
