On August 26, 2014, ten Cooper employees will begin their journeys to become bachelor-prepared nurses. Through the RWJF grant, Rutgers School of Nursing, in collaboration with Cooper, is providing opportunities for Cooper employees in historically underrepresented groups in the nursing profession to pursue bachelor-level nursing degrees. Employees, who currently work in a hospital environment and are involved in the care of the patient, are encouraged to apply for this two-year program. In the first year, the selected students will take preparatory classes including English, math and life sciences along with seminars to build academic skills. In the second year, the students will complete coursework commiserate with the Rutgers School of Nursing core curriculum.<\/p>\n
Eligible employees must have at least two years of hospital-based experience and are not currently enrolled in a BSN program.
