The Susan Marie Rupp Foundation, in conjunction with MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, \u00a0has placed teal ribbons throughout the Camden and Voorhees campuses in recognition of Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. The ribbons will remain throughout September in honor of cancer survivors and to create awareness about the prevention and early detection of women’s cancers. Cooper University Hospital\u2019s external lights will glow at night with the color teal throughout the month.<\/p>\n
The American Cancer Society estimates that more than 90,000<\/strong> women<\/strong> in the United States are diagnosed with cervical, uterine, ovarian and other gynecological cancers each year, and 28,080 women will die from these diseases. Early detection and treatment is important to improve outcomes.<\/p>\n The Susan Marie Rupp Foundation was established in loving memory of Susan Marie Rupp, who courageously battled recurring ovarian cancer for eight years. Susan died on July 30, 2010, at the age of 52. The goal of the foundation is to raise awareness of ovarian and other gynecologic cancers, educate women on the often-vague symptoms, and raise money for research.
