Salzman, MD<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Cooper University Health Care physician Matthew S. Salzman, MD, has been named one of the prestigious 2020 Bloomberg Fellows by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Salzman is one of only 50 master of public health fellows (MPH) and eight doctors in public health (DPH) fellows from 27 states, and Washington, D.C., in the 2020 cohort. The 2020 Bloomberg Fellows will receive extensive public health training to tackle critical health issues across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an honor to be selected as a Bloomberg Fellow. This is a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in public health and form collaborations with thought leaders so that I can more effectively care for patients at Cooper and its surrounding community,\u201d said Dr. Salzman.<\/p>\n<p>The Bloomberg American Health Initiative at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health provides full scholarships for full- or part-time study, each drawn from an organization working on one of five critical health challenges facing the nation: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, adolescent health, and violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Salzman does tremendous work for his patients at Cooper and this training will only add to his significant skills,\u201d said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, Co-CEO of Cooper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe congratulate Dr. Salzman for earning this great honor. The experience Dr. Salzman will acquire as part of this program will enhance Cooper\u2019s ability to serve the people of southern New Jersey,\u201d said Kevin O\u2019Dowd, JD, Co-CEO.<\/p>\n<p>As an emergency medicine physician and toxicologist at Cooper, Dr. Salzman has been critical in the development of Cooper\u2019s Addiction Medicine Program, a New Jersey state-designated Center of Excellence. The program provides compassionate, quality medical care and comprehensive addiction treatment services for patients with substance use disorders and chemical dependency throughout the continuum of inpatient, outpatient, and chronic care settings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cooper University Health Care physician Matthew S.
