National\u00a0CRNA Week\u00a0is an annual celebration of our nation\u2019s more than 57,000 nurse anesthetists. During this week, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) around the country will reflect on the heroic work done as the COVID-19 pandemic began almost one year ago.\u00a0CRNAs will be looking forward to the continued hard work and efforts as this pandemic continues to march on, while remaining focused on providing safe and effective care to all patients.<\/p>\n
At Cooper University Health Care, our CRNAs provide anesthesia in collaboration with our anesthesiologists as part of an integrated Anesthesia Care Team model. CRNAs also work collaboratively with surgeons and other qualified health care professionals to deliver quality care during each patient contact.<\/p>\n
In the operating room, CRNAs are involved in all three phases of a patient\u2019s operative experience: Pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management.\u00a0Cooper CRNAs also provide anesthesia to many clinical support services outside of the operating room in areas such as obstetrics, IR\/MRI\/pediatric MRI, EP lab, GI\/bronchoscopy suites, neuro intervention lab, cardiac catheterization labs, pain management, and pre-admission testing clinic. They also staff Cooper Digestive Health\u2019s gastrointestinal suites and Voorhees Surgical Center\u2019s operating room suites.<\/p>\n
Cooper CRNAs provide 24-hour coverage, and respond to all hospital emergencies in TICU, Trauma Admitting, Code Blues, Code Whites and stat floor intubations, where they quickly identify and manage these emergency situations. They participate in airway management involving airway ventilation, tracheal intubation, pharmacologic\/cardiopulmonary support, management of blood\/IV fluid, and electrolyte and acid-base balance.<\/p>\n
