MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper is proud to offer a variety of support groups that help guide survivors through their cancer treatment and beyond. This fall, one of those groups \u2013 Sister Will You Help Me \u2013 will celebrate its 20th anniversary.<\/p>\n
Sister Will You Help Me is a cancer support group for women of color and faith \u2013 one of the few minority-focused cancer support groups in the South Jersey region. The group is open to all women diagnosed with cancer, whether newly diagnosed or decades into survivorship, regardless of where they receive treatment. The group\u2019s mission to empower through knowledge, encourage through sisterhood, enlighten through faith, and bond through love has been an enduring source of hope and support for Black and minority women for nearly two decades.<\/p>\n
The group\u2019s founder and facilitator, Dianne Hyman, MSN, RN, OCN, CN-BN, had this to say about the group\u2019s legacy, “Recognizing minority women lacked the support and resources that they needed, Sister Will You Help Me was established to fill that void. I believe our faith and spiritual foundation has sustained us all these years.”<\/p>\n
