On Friday, March 5, 2021,<\/strong> MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper will GO BLUE<\/strong> to recognize National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Employees throughout Cooper are encouraged to wear blue that day to show their support and raise awareness about colorectal cancer screening.<\/p>\n

Regular colorectal cancer screening exams can find cancer at its earliest stage, when the chances for successfully treating the disease are the greatest. Men and women at average risk for colorectal cancer should get a screening colonoscopy every 10 years beginning at age 50. African American men and women should begin regular screening colonoscopies at age 45. People with an increased risk, such as those with a family history of colon cancer, should consider screening sooner. On GO BLUE<\/strong> Day<\/strong>, we encourage everyone to share photos of yourself, your coworkers, or your entire unit or department proudly wearing blue. Please remember to wear your mask and maintain physical distance from others if you are in a group photo.<\/p>\n
