All Cooper University Health Care team members are invited to participate in a blood drive to benefit the New York Blood Center (NYBC), one of the largest independent, community-based, nonprofit blood centers in the United States. NYBC provides lifesaving blood products and services to nearly 200 hospitals in New York and New Jersey, including Cooper.<\/p>\n

When:<\/strong> January 20, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> Conference Center 121<\/p>\n

While the blood drive is for Cooper team members only, if you have friends or family who are interested in donating blood you can direct them to NYBC\u2019s website here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Giving blood is easy and can save up to three lives in one hour. When one person donates a unit of blood, it can be separated into individual components to meet the daily transfusion needs of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS patients, sickle cell anemia patients, and many more.<\/p>\n

Close to 2,000 donations are needed each day in the New York\/New Jersey community for patients who require a lifesaving blood and\/or platelet transfusion. However, amid the pandemic, the region has dropped to a one- to two-day supply, so the need for blood donations has never been greater.<\/p>\n
