This is supported by CDC and NJDOH surveillance data mined by our Infection Prevention team, as well as our own experience where we are seeing more patients with influenza-like symptoms\/COVID-19-like illness as outpatients, in our ED, and as inpatients.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, we have declared that Flu Season has started <u>today, Tuesday, January 18, 2022.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Please emphasize the importance of getting an influenza vaccine to your patients, family, and team members. It is not too late to receive one.\u00a0Please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cooperhealth.policytech.com\/dotNet\/documents\/?docid=19549\">Cooper vaccination policy<\/a> regarding requirements for vaccination<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is also a reminder that even though we are still in the pandemic, we need to consider the diagnosis of influenza when you treat patients with ILI\/CLI symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>Remember:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Proper hand hygiene and good cough etiquette<\/strong> <strong>are essential<\/strong> and remain the <strong>most effective<\/strong> ways to prevent the transmission of influenza and other infections.<\/li>\n<li>Influenza vaccination is still available and can be effective.
