To help you prepare in case of a disaster or emergency, please see the resources, questions, and tips below from FEMA, ready.gov, and Cooper\u2019s own Division of EMS\/Disaster Medicine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cell phones and computers can be unreliable during a disaster. Do you have a Family Emergency Communications Plan? Find one supplied by FEMA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ready.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2021-04\/family-emergency-communication-plan.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a designated place to meet your family outside your home or immediate neighborhood in case of an emergency?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have enough emergency supplies in your home to last 72 hours? The American Red Cross has a survival list to help you create your own. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redcross.org\/get-help\/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies\/survival-kit-supplies.html\">Click here<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<li>Do you have enough emergency supplies in your car to last 24 hours? The National Safety Council has a list of items you can keep in your car in case of an emergency. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsc.org\/community-safety\/safety-topics\/emergency-preparedness\/emergency-supplies-for-car\">Click here<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<li>Do you have tourniquets in your car and home to stop life threatening limb bleeding? Do you know how to use one? Cooper offers Stop the Bleed courses to help you prepare. <a href=\"https:\/\/events.cooperhealth.org\/event\/community-health-seminars\/stop-the-bleed-1\">Click here<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a fire escape plan for your home?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have an alternate source of power in your home such as a generator? Does it have enough fuel to last 72 hours?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home?<\/li>\n<li>Does everyone in your household (including children) know how to shut off the gas, water, and electricity coming into your home?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a fireproof and waterproof container in your home for storing important documents?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember \u2013 disasters don\u2019t plan ahead, but you can!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September is National Preparedness Month.
