On Tuesday, November 12, 2022, between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., two catalytic converter thefts were reported in the CCIA Garage. Both thefts happened on the third level of the garage. A police investigation was initiated. Cooper\u2019s security investigation revealed that two subjects on a motorcycle (see image below) parked between two Toyota Forerunner SUVs and removed their catalytic converters. The suspects\u2019 vehicle matches the description of a previous converter theft that happened in October 2022. Note the black helmets, black\/dark clothing, and white motorcycle with a light blue gas tank \u2013 possibly a Kawasaki.<\/p>\n

If you see this motorcycle on Cooper\u2019s Camden campus, please call Security Services immediately at 856.342.2400.\u00a0Do not approach the vehicle.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please note that SUVs are common targets for catalytic converter thefts. Because of their height, it is easy for thieves to access the converter. However, there are safety devices you can purchase to protect your vehicle from catalytic converter theft. Keep in mind, the cost for a replacement converter can range from $3,000 to $4,000.<\/p>\n
