The Camden Community Partnership, the Office of the Mayor of Camden, and The Cooper Foundation have joined forces once again to spread holiday cheer by providing 1,500 Thanksgiving meals to senior citizens across the City of Camden who might otherwise not have enough food to be able to enjoy the holiday. The effort, funded in great part by an anonymous family, has become a local tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are most appreciative of the support from our generous donors and volunteers. This is a massive undertaking with the help of dozens of volunteers from the Camden Community Partnership, the Mayor\u2019s Office, and our own Cooper team members,\u201d said Philip A. Norcross, Board Chairman of The Cooper Foundation. \u201cThe effort is even more critical this year as inflation is having a negative impact on food prices. Many families are struggling, particularly seniors. We hope this holiday meal brings some much-needed joy this Thanksgiving.\u201d<\/p>\n

The turkey dinner giveaway initially began in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has become an ongoing Thanksgiving tradition to support senior citizens throughout Camden. The Cooper Foundation works with city leaders and community partners to canvass the city and personally deliver the 1,500 turkey dinners with all the fixings throughout a number of apartment complexes and senior housing facilities. Since the program began, The Cooper Foundation has distributed more than 4,500 Thanksgiving meals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
