Yesterday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed the Health Care Heroes Violence Prevention Act. This bill provides important new protections for all Cooper team members against aggression and violence in the workplace. The aim of the bill is to protect all employees in health care settings throughout the State by increasing penalties for those who threaten or commit acts of violence in health care settings. As you may remember, last year Cooper called upon legislative leaders and policy makers to draft legislation strengthening protections for health care workers. When the bill was drafted, we hosted the legislative sponsors and health system leaders from across South Jersey to demonstrate support for the proposed bill. Your safety and that of our patients and visitors remains a top priority. We are proud to have supported this law, which will cover all Cooper team members.<\/p>\n

We believe the new law will help create a safer environment for our team members.
