This accreditation reinforces our team\u2019s efforts to provide the highest level of care to each patient,\u201d said Tudor G. Jovin, MD, Medical Director of the Cooper Neurological Institute at Cooper University Health Care and Professor of Neurology at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, Cooper also received these achievement awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll<\/li>\n<li>Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll<\/li>\n<li>Stroke Advanced Therapy Honor Roll<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to recognize Cooper for its commitment to caring for those in their community,\u201d said John Warner, MD, FAHA, past President of the American Heart Association and CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. \u201cHospitals that follow the American Heart Association\u2019s quality improvement protocols often see improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions, and lower mortality rates \u2013 a win for health care systems, families, and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cooper Neurological Institute (CNI) is fully dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and neurosurgical issues. The institute offers diagnostic and treatment options for a wide range of conditions from spinal traumas to strokes to hydrocephalus, as well as comprehensive neuro-oncology and neuromuscular care.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the CNI transformed neurological care in the region with the opening of a new, dedicated Acute Stroke and Neuro Interventional Suite within its Emergency Department \u2013 the first of its kind in the nation. Cooper was the first comprehensive stroke center in the United States equipped with the latest generation Siemens Healthineers biplane angiography suite integrated with a CT scanner, providing fully integrated surgical image guidance for minimally invasive treatment of strokes.<\/p>\n<p>The suite is designed to treat emergent and non-emergent forms of cerebrovascular disease including acute stroke of any type, cerebral aneurysms, carotid artery disease, and other vascular conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord. This \u201cone stop shop\u201d approach represents an innovative model of care addressing the critically time-sensitive nature of neurovascular emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper is one of only seven hospitals in New Jersey and the only one in South Jersey to achieve this significant certification.
