{"id":19050,"date":"2023-10-03T16:35:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T20:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/?p=19050"},"modified":"2023-10-03T16:35:35","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T20:35:35","slug":"nationwide-emergency-alert-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/2023\/10\/nationwide-emergency-alert-test\/","title":{"rendered":"Nationwide Emergency Alert Test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On October 4, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/emergency-alert-system\">Emergency Alert System<\/a> (EAS) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fema.gov\/emergency-managers\/practitioners\/integrated-public-alert-warning-system\/public\/wireless-emergency-alerts\">Wireless Emergency Alerts<\/a> (WEA). The purpose of the test is to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level.<\/p>\n<p>The test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. The WEA portion of the test will be sent to all consumer cell phones.
