\u00a0<\/strong>This week is National Respiratory Care Week. The Cooper Respiratory Therapy team is celebrating several national awards during their recognition week.<\/p>\n

Cooper is proud to announce that Christopher Morley, RRT, has received the The PHIL Award\u00ae from The FACES Foundation\u00ae<\/a> , the only nation-wide, hospital-based recognition program dedicated to honoring outstanding respiratory therapists. These honorees provide exemplary care and treatment for patients with respiratory illnesses, and are nominated by patients, family members, and other caregivers. The PHIL Award was created in 2006 in honor of Philip C. Lamka, who passed away from interstitial lung disease. The award honors and recognizes the unsung heroes in the respiratory profession who understand that each breath matters.<\/p>\n

Cooper is the first hospital in New Jersey to have a candidate represented with this prestigious award. In addition, Cooper\u2019s Respiratory Therapy Department received the American Association for Respiratory Care\u2019s \u00a0Apex Recognition Award<\/a>, which they earned by meeting 14 different standards. The award recognizes the significant contribution of respiratory therapists and highlights best practices in respiratory care that are aligned with evidence-based medicine. This program also helps consumers choose health care facilities that enhance patient safety and outcomes by providing access to respiratory therapists delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.<\/p>\n

As a 2024-2025 Apex recipient, Cooper\u2019s Respiratory Therapy team joins an elite group of respiratory care departments from across the U.S. who have met the stringent quality and practice criteria of the award. Only 25 hospitals in the last two years have received the recognition, and in New Jersey, Cooper is the only hospital in the region to have received this recognition. A huge congratulations to the Christopher Morley and the entire Respiratory Therapy team on these recognitions.<\/p>\n
