{"id":19404,"date":"2023-11-07T17:31:59","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T22:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/?p=19404"},"modified":"2023-11-07T17:31:59","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T22:31:59","slug":"cooper-surgical-experts-at-the-clinical-congress-of-the-american-college-of-surgeons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/2023\/11\/cooper-surgical-experts-at-the-clinical-congress-of-the-american-college-of-surgeons\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooper Surgical Experts at the Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, several Cooper surgeons attended the annual Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), in Boston with over 12,000 attendees. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/maureen-moore-md\">Maureen Moore, MD<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/teralyn-carter\">Teralyn Carter, MD<\/a>, were inducted as new fellows of the ACS.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/amit-joshi-md\">Amit Joshi, MD<\/a>, was re-elected for a one-year term to the six-person executive committee of the Board of Governors. The ACS has 207 governors from around the world and 89 represent specialty societies. Dr. Joshi is a specialty governor in his last year of a six-year term from the Association of Program Directors in Surgery (APDS). As current APDS president, he moderated an APDS-sponsored panel session at the Congress.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/yong-ji-md\">Yong Ki Hong, MD, PhD<\/a>, was appointed to the Young Fellows Association of ACS executive governing council for a three-year term. He is also newly chair-elect of Education Committee of Young Fellows Association of ACS for three-year term.<\/p>\n<p>Other Cooper attendees included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/francis-spitz-md\">Francis Spitz, MD<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/lisa-reid-md\">Lisa Reid, MD<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/nicole-fox-md\">Nicole Fox, MD<\/a>; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/robert-simons-md\">Robert Simons, MD<\/a>, along with all the general surgery program\u2019s chief residents. Dr. Spitz hosted a dinner for Cooper attendees on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Kristi Knapp, MD, a general surgery PGY-3 resident, had a podium presentation under the mentorship of Dr. Moore on the surgical treatment of octogenarians with adrenal cortical carcinoma.
