The surveyors will travel throughout the hospital to any and all areas that provide care to our stroke patients.<\/p>\n<p>Team members in all areas of the hospital should be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke and what to do if they think someone is having a stroke:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>B = Balance<\/strong>: Is the person experiencing a sudden loss of balance or coordination?<\/li>\n<li><strong>E = Eyes<\/strong>: Is the person having a sudden change in vision or trouble seeing?<\/li>\n<li><strong>F = Face<\/strong>: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?<\/li>\n<li><strong>A = Arms<\/strong>: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?<\/li>\n<li><strong>S = Speech<\/strong>: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange?<\/li>\n<li><strong>T = Time<\/strong>: If you observe any of these signs,\u00a0<strong>call 666 <\/strong>if located in the hospital or 911 if located at an ambulatory location or in the community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If there are any departments that would like a refresher on stroke education, please reach out to <a href=\"mailto:hester-taryn@cooperhealth.edu\">hester-taryn@cooperhealth.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Joint Commission will be onsite for a two-day recertification survey of our Comprehensive Stroke Program on November 30 and December 1, 2023.
