April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month. It is important to understand the common symptoms of this disease, which is the sixth leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide.<\/p>\n

In a recent segment by Fox 29 news, interventional gastroenterologist Anthony Infantolino, MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF, FASGE<\/a>, Director of Advanced Luminal Endoscopy and Co-Director of the Barrett\u2019s Esophagus Center, Complex Polyp Center, and Gastrointestinal Bleeding Center at the Cooper Digestive Health Institute, is dedicated to saving lives by raising awareness about the conditions that can ultimately lead to esophageal cancer. In this segment, a patient who suffered from chronic acid reflux sought treatment from Dr. Infantolino. During the evaluation, the patient received a diagnosis of Barrett\u2019s esophagus<\/a>, which is a precancerous condition resulting from chronic or untreated heartburn, acid reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).<\/p>\n
