Communicating Health Information so Patients Understand.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two decades of research show that health information is often communicated in ways that are not usable by most Americans. Medical care is complicated and many people struggle when trying to understand their medication, instructions for self-care or follow-up plans. The good news is that health care professionals can learn to communicate in ways that minimize confusion and lead to better health outcomes. This 3.5* hour interactive workshop will provide health professionals with tools and practical strategies for delivering health information in a clear and understandable way.<\/p>\n

This workshop is geared to everyone who works in health care \u2013 from front desk staff to physicians, nurses, public health educators, social workers, pharmacists and allied health practitioners.<\/p>\n

At the completion of the workshop, participants will learn:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 A \u201cuniversal precautions\u201d approach to health communication to benefit the majority of patients.
\n\u2022 Best practices for communicating health information more clearly.
\n\u2022 Practical strategies for clearly communicating numerical health information and concepts.
\n\u2022 Ways that your organization can facilitate clearer communication around health care issues.<\/p>\n
