On behalf of the Center for Advanced Practice<\/a> APP Professional Development Committee and APP Research Subcommittee, we cordially invite you to participate in an online educational talk to learn about research and how to become involved. The talk will take place this Thursday, June 6, 2024, at noon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Bonnie Jerome D\u2019Emilia, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor at Rutgers School of Nursing and is passionate about community-based research. \u00a0Her research targets breast cancer screening and treatment, with a focus on disparities. Dr.\u00a0Jerome-D\u2019Emilia has conducted a number of community-based participatory research studies in Camden looking at women\u2019s decision-making in terms of breast cancer screening as well as validating cancer-related scales in African American and Hispanic communities.<\/p>\n

Dr.\u00a0Jerome-D\u2019Emilia is analyzing 10 years of breast cancer data from the New Jersey State Cancer Registry to evaluate the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program (NJCEED), and the association between insurance status, delays in diagnosis and treatment, and variations in treatment. She is currently interviewing women for a qualitative study related to NJCEED. She is the recipient of a Provost\u2019s grant and a Rand Institute Fellowship to support this work. She has recently started working with new collaborators on Native American women and breast cancer screening and will be preparing a grant proposal to look at cancer disparities in Navajo women in New Mexico.<\/p>\n

Dr.\u00a0Jerome-D\u2019Emilia has advanced degrees in Public Health and Health Services Research and teaches both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Soon after starting work at Rutgers University\u2013Camden,\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Jerome-D\u2019Emilia created the RN-to-BS in Nursing program, introduced online education into the Rutgers School of Nursing\u2013Camden, and developed the first off-site program at Atlantic Cape Community College. She developed Conceptual Foundations and the Community and Leadership clinical courses and has taught all three. She developed the Doctor of Nursing Practice Health Policy course as well as the general education Health Policy course. Recently, she has taught both policy courses as well as the theory section of the Community Health Nursing and Global Health Theory course.<\/p>\n
