The program is a six-week, full-time immersive summer experience for motivated nursing students to further their exposure to clinical nursing practice. Cooper\u2019s nurse externs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in patient care with experienced registered nurses (RNs) in a welcoming learning environment.<\/li>\n<li>Enhance their assessment and critical thinking skills.<\/li>\n<li>Experience the fast-paced hospital environment of a Level I Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center.<\/li>\n<li>Are given the opportunity to apply as a critical care tech at Cooper upon program completion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the final day of the program, participants toured the helipad and learned about the important role of Cooper\u2019s flight team, completed the Stop the Bleed Program, and attended a modified Trauma Injury Prevention Program presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper\u2019s Nurse Extern Program runs annually from June to July. Applications are available every January on Cooper\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/jobs.cooperhealth.org\/search-jobs?acm=77145&amp;alrpm=ALL&amp;ascf=%5b%7B%22key%22:%22ALL%22,%22value%22:%22%22%7D%5d\"><strong>career site<\/strong><\/a>.
