Deborah Cosgrove, BSN, RN, a staff nurse from the Trauma ICU\u00a0(Pavilion 10)\u00a0at Cooper University Hospital, was announced as the DAISY Award winner for September 2024. Deborah\u2019s dedication to Cooper Nursing and the extraordinary care she provides to our Cooper patients earned her\u00a0the following accolades:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter was transferred to Cooper with severe brain trauma. She was her nurse on her final days before my daughter was to go for organ donation. It\u00a0was traumatic for me as I hoped my daughter could recover. Obviously, with organ donation,\u00a0there are a lot\u00a0of blood draws and testing. She was so compassionate to me,\u00a0assuring me she would work around me while I\u00a0held my daughter\u2019s\u00a0hand and talked to her. She always explained everything she was doing and why. When she asked everyone to leave the room to wash Tess,\u00a0she asked me if I wanted to stay and help. It was truly a gift I\u00a0did not expect, and I was grateful. What was supposed to be a four-hour organ retrieval turned to five, then six, then seven, which meant a shift change. The transplant\u00a0team said we had to wait again, but she offered to stay with my daughter and escorted her to surgery. We were brought in,\u00a0and she was there with my family when my daughter took her last breath. I have never\u00a0met a more compassionate nurse ever. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
