Leonard Kim, MS, AMusD, DABR<\/strong><\/a>, Chief Medical Physicist at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, has received fellow honors from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). This designation recognizes AAPM members who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to research, education, and leadership within the medical physics community.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kim earned his MS in Medical Physics from Wayne State University under the mentorship of Dr. Jay Burmeister and began his career at William Beaumont Hospital, working with Drs. John Wong and Di Yan. There, he collaborated with a remarkable cohort that included 15 future AAPM fellows.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kim then moved to Rutgers under Dr. Jeff Yue, directed their residency program, founded their certificate program, and won an institutional grant to image microscopic disease for CTV definition. After joining Cooper, he founded Cooper\u2019s Medical Physics Residency Program, serves as a clinical and research mentor for Penn\u2019s MS program, and arranged relocation of Geoffrey Ibbott\u2019s research lab to Cooper to develop an injectable in vivo dosimeter for (magnetic resonance-guided radiation therapy. Dr. Kim has served on several AAPM education and Medical Professional Liability Association groups, including chairing the Medical Physics Graduate Education Subcommittee. Before entering\u00a0the field of medical physics, he earned a performance music doctorate in harpsichord and regularly posts piano performances on YouTube. He is married to cellist Mimi Morris and has three children, Katherine, Stephen, and Elizabeth.<\/p>\n
