{"id":24904,"date":"2025-08-26T16:35:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T20:35:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/?p=24904"},"modified":"2025-08-26T17:30:25","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T21:30:25","slug":"sepsis-awareness-month-kick-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/2025\/08\/sepsis-awareness-month-kick-off\/","title":{"rendered":"Sepsis Awareness Month Kick-off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sepsis Awareness Month, held every\u00a0September, is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about\u00a0sepsis, a life-threatening condition that arises when the body\u2019s response to infection causes injury to its own tissues and organs.\u00a0Cooper will be celebrating Sepsis Awareness Month with a mix of\u00a0theme days,\u00a0interactive games, and\u00a0creative challenges\u2014and yes, there will be\u00a0prizes!<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the month, team members can take part in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rolling Jeopardy Games:<\/strong> Test your sepsis knowledge in a fun, fast-paced format. Members of the Quality Improvement team will be visiting units intermittently throughout the month; there will also be a Jeopardy contest in the cafeteria \u2013 date to be announced.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Escape the Box Challenge:<\/strong> Solve clues and unlock sepsis facts to win. Date to be announced.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Theme Days:<\/strong> Dress up, decorate, and show your spirit (details coming soon).<\/li>\n<li>Throughout the month, remember to post photos of you and your fellow team members to <a href=\"https:\/\/pulse-plus.cooperhealth.edu\/member\/\"><strong>Pulse+<\/strong><\/a>. Show us how you\u2019re participating in Cooper\u2019s Sepsis Awareness Month activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the activities above, we will also be holding a TikTok video contest. All clinical staff\u00a0and creative team members are invited to participate in a fun and educational video contest that highlights\u00a0one sepsis fact\u00a0and\u00a0one sepsis action. Videos should be filmed in\u00a0vertical format\u00a0(ideal for TikTok or Instagram Reels) and run between\u00a030 to 60 seconds. This is a great opportunity to educate, engage, and maybe even win a prize!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Need inspiration? Here are a few ideas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Act out a nurse-patient scenario that shows early recognition of sepsis.<\/li>\n<li>Bust a myth like: \u201cYou can\u2019t get sepsis from a small cut? Think again.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Use a trending sound or dance to overlay sepsis facts.<\/li>\n<li>Draw out the TIME acronym or bundle steps on a whiteboard.<\/li>\n<li>Narrate a survivor\u2019s story\u2014real or fictional\u2014with visuals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To participate in the contest:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upload your video to Google Drive or OneDrive and send the link to <a href=\"mailto:socialmedia@cooperhealth.edu\">socialmedia@cooperhealth.edu<\/a> by September 10, 2025.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that your video is filmed in\u00a0vertical format\u00a0and that it runs between 30 to 60 seconds.<\/li>\n<li>Voting will take place between\u00a0September 11 to September 13, 2025. Details on the voting process will be shared in an upcoming Weekly Rounds post.<\/li>\n<li>Winners will be announced in the September 16 issue of Weekly Rounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let\u2019s make this month memorable, educational, and fun.
