The Disability Advocacy Association at Cooper (DAAC) invites you to join us in learning together about how disease and disability evolve from a diagnosis to an experience, and to better advocate for all of our patients. We are a grassroots student organization at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden dedicated to promoting patient-centered advocacy related to physical and mental disease and disability. We need your support to promote education, elevate awareness of relevant issues in health care, and support inclusion of the patient perspective and patient-centered language into medical education.<\/p>\n
Upcoming events include a panel of patients who are also clinicians, a panel-led discussion on stigma surrounding mental health in health care, and a workshop on people-first language. We also hope to organize mentorship between clinicians and students who identify as patients with chronic illness or disability. We welcome your participation in these programs, whether sharing your experiences as a mentor or as an attendee.<\/p>\n
