The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to Cooper University Health Care\u2019s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services, Camden, New Jersey, based on the results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP\u2019s Accreditation Programs.<\/p>\n
The facility\u2019s Director, Charlene M. Bierl, MD, PhD, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Cooper University Health Care\u2019s Laboratory is one of more than 7,700 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese inspections are extremely thorough. The ongoing ability of our team to meet and exceed the presented expectations is a strong testament to the strength and quality of the technical leadership and teamwork of the laboratory staff. I would like to thank everybody for their ongoing support and commitment to this vital service to our patients,\u201d said Dr. Bierl.<\/p>\n
The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to, or more-stringent-than, the government\u2019s own inspection program.<\/p>\n
During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory\u2019s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
