CMSRU\u2019s chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) — the oldest and largest student-run organization focused on the needs and concerns of medical students of color — was recognized as Community Service Chapter of the Year for Region IX during the organization\u2019s 52nd Annual Medical Education Conference held last week in Austin, TX. Region IX includes medical schools in New York and New Jersey.<\/p>\n
CMSRU\u2019s SNMA Chapter is very active in the Camden community. It was recognized in this forum for its work on building a relationship with Lifting Up Camden\u2019s Youth (L.U.C.Y.) Outreach Program by preparing didactic sessions with the youth on healthy relationships and positive body image. Other community service projects CMSRU presented to the region included organizing a Culture & You session at the school\u2019s National MLK Day of Service; Project Brown Paper Bag with The American Red Cross at CMSRU; and Secret Santa donations of hats, scarves, gloves, and socks to Sumner Elementary School in Camden.
\nSNMA thanks its members for participating in its service events and helping make them successful.
