The callers have used a variety of strategies to try and get individuals to share personal information, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Caller claims to have legal papers to deliver if the individual does not make a payment on a pending legal case.<\/li>\n<li>Caller asks individual to download software onto their computer.<\/li>\n<li>Caller claims the individual\u2019s computer has a virus and directs them to call another number to \u201cclean\u201d the computer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These voice-enabled phishing attempts, also known as\u00a0vishing\u00a0scams, are increasingly common.\u00a0Typically, the caller will attempt to convince an individual to provide their credit card numbers, account credentials, or other\u00a0sensitive user account information, to\u00a0visit a compromised\u00a0website, or to\u00a0download malicious software.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regardless of whether you receive the suspicious call on your personal phone or your work phone, NEVER follow the caller\u2019s instructions. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For a call on your work phone, please do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask the caller for a full name and organization.<\/li>\n<li>Write down the number of the call.
