Please follow the equipment manufacturer\u2019s recommendations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WHEN<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WOWs should be cleaned by wiping all surfaces using friction, including the base\u2026\n<ul>\n<li>At the beginning and end of your shift.<\/li>\n<li>Whenever they become visibly soiled.<\/li>\n<li>The scanner should be disinfected between each patient use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5370 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/weeklyrounds\/files\/2017\/06\/WOW-graphic-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"218\" height=\"350\" \/><\/strong>Whenever possible, WOWs should be left outside of rooms.\n<ul>\n<li>Please remember to press CTRL + Space Bar in order to secure protected health information (PHI).<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave notes or other papers that may contain PHI unattended.<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave unsecured sharps or medications unattended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>WOWs should <strong>NOT <\/strong>be used in rooms on isolation precautions.Any equipment that has been in a room of a patient on isolation precautions needs to be cleaned in accordance with our equipment cleaning policy and guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>WOWs can be used in a patient\u2019s room when needed to enhance patient safety. In this case the WOW should be stationed just inside the room and NOT closer than 3 feet from the patient.\n<ul>\n<li>Examples include complex documentation requirements that, when delayed, may result in errors, or inferior clinical communication.<\/li>\n<li>If used in patient\u2019s room, hand hygiene should be performed before and after contact with the WOW and\u00a0 before &amp; after contact with the patient or the patient\u2019s surroundings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Protecting our patients is the top priority at Cooper University Health Care. We need 100 percent compliance with all patient safety procedures.<\/p>\n<p>A sentinel is one who stands guard or watch to protect others.
